About the Author
Father of three. Middle School Guidance Counselor. Keene, NH legend.
Eddie Singer was born in 1960 and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. That place was Ditmas Avenue–playing stoop ball, stick ball, and just about any other "ball" game that you can think of. Back then, Eddie's life was full with his amazing parents, older brother, and his tribe of childhood best friends. Heading to class at PS 217 and Ditmas Junior High rounded out his younger days, while Midwood High and Oneonta State followed.
Fast forward to 1990, after six years of Oneonta (which he claims he should have been done with in four), many Grateful Dead concerts, and traveling across the US and Europe, it was time to return home. His father had gotten sick. The most amazing man in the world, the one who taught him everything, passed when Eddie was just 30 years old. As noted in the book, Eliza Rocket is dedicated to Eddie's mom, whose strength and kindness to others have been an inspiration in his life, and, in spirit, to his father, his largest role model to this day.
Greener pastures led Eddie to Southwestern New Hampshire- a town called Keene. He found a second home in Keene, raising his three perfect children, landing his ultimate job as a middle school counselor, roaming the ballfields with his kids, hiking mountains, playing the uke. And finding the inspiration for Eliza.
Eddie's children are always at the forefront in his mind and heart. Most recently, with his kids no longer living home, he is the lucky boyfriend to a beautifully thoughtful, and thoughtfully beautiful woman. Eddie is thankful to get to spend so much time with her two amazing daughters, as well as, with his mother who stayed with him for a while in his house in Keene.
